Starbucks is bringing its coffee to the comforts of your own home with its new plans to manufacture and sell single-cup coffee machines, similar to those made by Keurig. The super-convenient “Verismo” will enable coffee-lovers to brew lattes and espresso drinks via single-cup technology. In the past, Starbucks had entered the single-serve market with its K-Cup® coffee packs and Starbucks VIA® instant coffee. The Seattle-based coffee retailer is now targeting the more sophisticated coffee drinkers with the new Verismo system. The no-mess espresso and milk pods are being developed in partnership with Krueger GmbH & Co KG, a German foods and condiments company.
