PepsiCo to enter premium bottled water market

According to a report in an industry journal, PepsiCo plans to launch a premium bottled water called ‘Om’ next year.

PepsiCo already fields the purified water brand Aquafina, but lacks a product to compete with The Coca-Cola Company’s Glacéau Vitaminwater and Smartwater brands. According to the report,  sales volume for The Coca-Cola Company’s Smartwater is up 16% for the first half of 2013.

PepsiCo has so far declined to comment or provide any details.
