The Watercoolers Europe conference and trade show will be held this week in Istanbul. Known as a vibrant and cosmopolitan city, where east really does meet west, it will be interesting to see what the water cooler industry has up its sleeve for 2013 and beyond.
Despite a still sluggish economy, and serious financial troubles across central Europe, 2012 has seen a fair deal of innovation within the industry, especially in the mains-fed water cooler area, filtration and new systems for the home.
Several major players have entered the market, such as the Virgin/Strauss partnership and, obviously, momentum in the home water filtration market is still growing.
In fact, it has just been reported on the latest attempt by a water cooler company to gain access to the kitchen domain: Waterlogic’s new supply agreement with Indesit Company, one of Europe’s leading manufacturers of major domestic appliances.
The agreement, which covers 50 countries across Europe and Asia, is for the supply and distribution of advanced water purification devices designed for the kitchen, incorporating Waterlogic’s Firewall ultraviolet technology.
The residential market, long the ‘holy grail’ of the industry, is still very much on the agenda. Let’s see if there are any more ideas to crack it raised in Istanbul.
