Case Study: Better vending, improved revenue

A Sports and Leisure Group, which had grown by acquisition and mergers, had a variety of vending solutions and was looking to standardise the offer, along with finding ways to improve revenue. Healthy eating and drinking plus fair trade and other Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) issues were also areas they needed to address.

All locations were sent one of Thirst Link questionnaires and we established information about all the vending and water machines, contracts and tariffs. This data was then analysed in great detail using our unique templates to enable our client to make a commercial decision regarding the suitability of certain types of machines at each site, and ways and means to maximise sales throughput.

Following our advice the client acquired a new range of machines and a supplier of products to meet the requirement (including healthy eating and fairly traded products) to be delivered in to each location. Using our industry knowledge of the best selling items within Sports and Leisure, we advised on all plan-o-grams and the marketing displays to ensure maximum exposure and sales.

Standardised tariffs were agreed across the board that ensured a consistent vend price at all sites that resulted in highest return to the sports centres. Where new machines were supplied, Thirst Link arranged the maintenance contracts and training for the sports centres staff operating these machines.
