Problems – Need to maximise income from vending
A Sports and Leisure Group, which had grown by acquisition and mergers, had a variety of vending solutions and was looking to standardise the offer, along with finding ways to improve revenue. Healthy eating and drinking plus fair trade and other CSR issues were also areas they needed to address.
TLC’s Solution
All locations were sent one of TLC’s questionnaires and we established information about all the vending and water machines, contracts and tariffs. This data was then analysed using our unique templates. A spreadsheet was prepared, showing the machine and contract details of each of the centres, to enable our client to make a commercial decision regarding the suitability of certain types of machines and ways and means to maximise sales throughput.
The Outcome
Following our advice the client acquired a new range of machines and a supplier of products to meet the requirement (including healthy eating and fairly traded products) to be delivered in to each location. Using our industry knowledge of the best selling items within Sports and Leisure, we advised on all plannograms and the marketing displays to ensure maximum exposure and sales. Standardised tariffs were agreed across the board that ensured a consistent vend price at all sites that resulted in highest return to the sports centres. Where new machines were supplied, TLC arranged the maintenance contracts and training for the sports centres staff operating these machines.
